Ten Area Graduating Seniors Awarded Scholarships

Santa Fe, New Mexico, June 1, 2021 – The Del Norte LOV (Living Our Vision) Foundation, an independent 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization associated with Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), is proud to announce the ten recipients of its inaugural Del Norte LOV Foundation Scholarship Program for the 2020-2021 school year. Each recipient will receive $1,000 towards their higher education goals – a college or vocational school of their choice.
“The mission of the Del Norte LOV Foundation is to improve lives of youth and families in New Mexico, the scholarship program is a true testament to our mission. We hope to inspire younger generations to reach their full potential and support those that aspire for higher education,” explained Connie Tooker Nuñez, Del Norte LOV Foundation Director.
Scholarships are available to any current DNCU member who is a graduating senior, homeschool or GED student attending an accredited vocational school, college or university for the upcoming school year. Winners are chosen based on their academic record, work experience, statement of goals and demonstrated leadership in their schools and communities. Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America, is responsible for selection of scholarship recipients.
“We want to uplift our communities, especially our younger members. Through the Del Norte LOV Foundation, we are expanding our philanthropic efforts to our local schools, nonprofits, and other institutions. Partnerships are key,” explained Chuck Valenti, CEO/President of DNCU. “We want to create value for youth and families and the Del Norte LOV Foundation is the vehicle that will deliver that value. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to improve lives in this way.”
